The 2014 SSAA New South Wales Rifle Metallic Silhouette State Titles were held at SSAA Batemans Bay on the weekend of November 1 and 2. Practice was held on Friday and the range looked a picture, with all the metallic silhouette targets standing out against a background of green spring grass. Early-comers were practising for the weekend competitions on what was a normal Batemans Bay day, with few realising there was a gale warning out for Saturday.
Saturday came and so did the wind; a swirling gusting gale, making high scoring nearly impossible. To their credit, the shooters laughed and joked about the weather and got on with the competition. The weather abated in the late afternoon, and the Air Rifle component had good conditions and remained for the rest of the weekend.
A big thank you to all who helped in preparation and on the weekend - the event would not have happened without you. A special thank you too to Con Smith for the professional way he organises Rifle Metallic Silhouette in New South Wales.
