A Journalist’s Guide to Firearms and the Shooting Sports

SSAA National has published an extensive guide to assist journalists and media professionals when reporting on firearm-related issues or information. Written by journalists for journalists, A Journalist’s Guide to Firearms and the Shooting Sports aims to provide a crash course about firearms, the shooting sports, recreational hunting, wildlife conservation issues and crime, which we hope will assist in the correct delivery of accurate information.

The book is a handy guide to Australian laws and regulations on firearm possession and use. It debunks some of the myths and stereotypes about shooting, and provides an overview on the SSAA’s many different shooting competitions, known as ‘disciplines’. For more information, including requesting a complimentary copy of the guide, please contact our Media Officer.
