Exhibitions Group enters liquidation in New Zealand

After the Australian company previously contracted to promote the SSAA SHOT Expo entered liquidation late last year, its sister company in New Zealand, also named Exhibitions Group Limited, was last week placed in the hands of liquidators across the Tasman.

On July 15, Schenker Australia Pty Ltd applied to the High Court of New Zealand to have Exhibitions Group placed in liquidation after failing in its attempts to recover debt from the company. On July 26, chartered accountant Digby John Noyce was appointed liquidator of the New Zealand company by the High Court in Auckland.

As we reported in April of this year, the Australian Exhibitions Group company folded amid claims numerous creditors, including the SSAA, were owed in excess of $1.25m.

At that time Michael Nissen, the sole director of both companies, told Australian liquidators O'Brien Palmer that a disagreement with 'previous shareholders', which the SSAA believes to include Mr Nissen's father, was responsible for the company's demise and further cited a 'dispute' with the SSAA as a contributing factor.

Other Australian creditors who are allegedly owed money by the Australian Exhibitions Group company include American Express, transport companies, display organisers, various firearms businesses and the Australian Taxation Office.

  • The SSAA SHOT Expo is back, bigger and better than ever, at the Melbourne Showgrounds from October 19-20, 2019.
