SSAA offers new Gold Membership option – Solid gold!

Only $35 for $25,000 worth of insurance for your firearms and fixed firearm accessories – this is the new exclusive offer available to all existing and new SSAA members as part of our expanded membership options for 2015.

After months of meticulous negotiation and feedback from you, our members, the SSAA can now unveil our Gold Membership option, available from February 1. This new membership level gives you the opportunity to purchase insurance for your firearms and fixed firearm accessories for an additional annual fee of $35, on top of the standard membership price. For example, a member who receives the Australian Shooter magazine as a Shooter Only member will pay just $108 a year (current at the timing of writing) to include this insurance in their membership.

The insurance covers any type of firearm, including antiques and collectables, and any fixed firearms accessories, such as scopes and slings, both in the home and while in use. It also covers the firearms and fixed firearms accessories for any theft or loss, and even when taken overseas for up to 28 days.

Those with the Family Discount Membership can also purchase the insurance for just $35 per person per year. Junior members are unable to apply, but will be covered when the firearm is in their use if the primary Family Member upgrades to a Gold Membership.

The SSAA-owned and -operated SSAA Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd (SSAIB) will deliver the insurance, with National Manager Trevor Jenkin excited to offer the value for money deal to the membership.

“This exciting new member benefit gives you the opportunity to add an exclusive new level to your membership, which I know many of you wanted,” he said.

“Just by being a SSAA member, you are covered for your liability while engaged in recreational shooting, along with personal accident cover.

“SSAA Insurance Brokers has always been the shooters’ brokers, and we take no broker fees for arranging personal insurances for SSAA members, plus all our profits go back to your Association.

“This exclusive new insurance option is a great way to ensure your firearms and fixed firearm accessories are covered.

“Some of our members, and all of our clients, would have their firearms insured already under their home and contents insurance, but the additional benefits under the Gold Membership is there is only a $100 excess, they are covered while in use, and you also have 28 days overseas cover.”

SSAAIB put the insurance facility out to tender and found QBE Insurance to be the standout applicant. SSAA National Treasurer and SSAAIB Chairman Alf Bastian is confident the new level of membership will be affordable and cost-effective for many members.

“This is a no-fuss, affordable firearms and fixed accessories insurance deal exclusive to SSAA members,” he said. “Offering the insurance through SSAA Insurance Brokers makes it an easy choice for both current and new members who need cost-effective insurance through a reputable broker.”

SSAA National President Geoff Jones alluded to this exciting new initiative late last year, and is pleased to finally announce the details of this new member benefit.

“As the SSAA grows, it is only fitting that so too does the number of benefits available to our members,” he said. “We strive to ensure our member needs are met to the best of our ability, with this new membership benefit a direct result of your feedback and comments.”

SSAA National Chief Executive Officer Tim Bannister agreed. “A lot of time and work has gone into perfecting this offer to ensure our members get the best deal possible,” he said.

Members can apply for Gold Membership from February 1, with the $35 payment due again once your standard membership renewal expires.
