CFMoto unveils new X400 mid-size ATVs

Hunters ready to go bush and other outdoor enthusiasts will be excited by the latest model from the CFMoto Australia group. The firm that is synonymous with big-bore all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) has decided to downsize for its new driver-pleaser off the production line, which could also entice those within the farming community.

The unveiling of CFMoto’s first ATV under 500cc will see the manufacturer bustling into the mid-size market (250-400cc), which tallied around 40 per cent of Australian sales in 2014. Branded as the X400, the new-look ATV will hit the market in October with two options for buyers: the standard X400 model and the limited edition X400 LE model.

CFMoto CEO Michael Poynton is certain the X400 will make a rapid impact with interested parties among the hunting fraternity, as well as farmers busy with their chores on the land. “It’s our first vehicle in this segment to be released and with a ride away price point around 30 per cent less than our competitors, it will definitely shake things up,” said Mr Poynton. “We have sold more than 12,000 CFMotos in just over five years and have a pretty good grasp on what our customers want from us.”

Mr Poynton added that the development had been on the agenda within the CFMoto hierarchy for a considerable span of time and that the technological advances implemented on the new ATV would be of particular benefit to farmers. “Aussie farmers can now have a powerful liquid-cooled EFI 400cc engine with strong Canadian CVTech transmission with two- and four-wheel drive modes for a price point previously only ever seen on much more basic 250-300cc two-wheel drive ATVs,” he said.

The new X400s are priced at $5990 ride away for the standard model and $6990 ride away for the limited edition version. All X400s are backed by a two-year factory warranty.
