Kymco has wheeled out its second next-generation utility side-by-side vehicle as the Taiwanese manufacturer continues its attack on the growing market segment. The new UXV 700i LE EPS will arrive in Australian dealerships in February, offering a host of new productivity and safety features, including electronic power steering.
Speaking at the launch, Kymco Australia’s Michael Poynton said the new model would continue the strong uptake of Kymco utility side-by-sides. “This part of the market is really booming as both recreational and agricultural users start to get their heads around the very real safety and performance benefits of running this type of vehicle,” he said. “Late last year we launched the first of our next-generation models. That has been an incredibly successful launch and we’re expecting similar results with the UXV 700i LE EPS.”
Kymco has upped the value on the new model, managing new inclusions such as electronic power steering, yet maintaining a starting price less than $500 more than the outgoing model. Mr Poynton said the company was focused on providing farmers and recreational users the best value for money. “It’s great we can use power steering to reduce rider fatigue and increase manoeuvrability without really increasing the entry price,” he said.
In addition to the electronic power steering, buyers of the new model will get a 3000-pound winch, 14″ black alloy wheels and metallic painted plastics all as standard inclusions. The powertrain carries over unchanged from the previous model, with the fuel-injected 45HP 695cc engine and bullet proof CVT automatic both returning. The transmission again supports active engine braking and a front diff-lock enables push-button selectable two- and four-wheel drive, while the independent suspension delivers a full 12″ of clearance. The next-generation UXV 700i LE EPS also retains great productivity and safety features such as the tilting cargo bed, in-cab storage, seat belts, side-window netting and shaft-mounted park brake.
The UXV 700i LE EPS has a recommended retail price of $14,990 (plus pre-delivery and freight charges) and is supported by the factory’s three-year warranty program.
