Senator Penny Wright labels Adler as “rapid fire” while SSAA sticks to facts regarding 150-year-old technology

SSAA National President Geoff Jones spoke with the ABC’s The World Today program about the Adler A110 lever-action shotgun, with the temporary ban set to be overturned in 12 months’ time.

In the August 13 radio interview, Geoff said opposition to the Adler was unnecessary and misplaced. “These things are not machine-guns, for heaven’s sake. These are mechanisms which have been around, in fact, to be quite honest, over 150 years,” he said.

Greens Senator Penny Wright, who was also interviewed, incorrectly referred to the Adler as “rapid fire”. She called for the ban to be maintained, saying, “If this rapid-fire gun got into the wrong hands, there is a real concern that we could see a repetition of some of the tragic events we’ve seen in the past.”
