The art of successful stalking

Stalking plays a vital role in the culling of feral animals and, in his latest video for SSAA-TV, ‘Wildlife Man’ David Ireland talks us through what it takes to be a successful animal stalker. He explains the steps you must take to ‘read’ the land and gain an insight into where and when feral animals are most likely to be on your radar - identifying tracks and scats that reveal exactly what animals are in the vicinity. He also underlines the importance of choosing the appropriate footwear and the role camouflage plays in helping you close in on your quarry to affect a clean and humane cull. Assessing the landscape for cover and using the wind to your advantage are also explained.
